Google Analytics is the source we use for traffic metrics in the Raptive dashboard. So understanding how the Performance by Traffic Source report allocates Pinterest and Direct traffic and revenue means understanding how Google Analytics defines those two traffic sources.
- The Pinterest traffic source in Google Analytics only includes pageviews and sessions from the Pinterest app on iOS and from web browsers.
- The Direct traffic source in Google Analytics is where you’ll actually find pageviews and sessions from the Pinterest app on Android.
Thanks, Google Analytics, right?
As of October 21, 2023, the Performance By Traffic Source report allocates revenue the same way Google Analytics allocates pageviews and sessions for Pinterest and Direct traffic sources.
- Before, Pinterest revenue included revenue for the Android Pinterest app, but those pageviews were included in the Direct traffic source.
- Now, Pinterest revenue only includes revenue for the Pinterest app on iOS and from web browsers, and Direct revenue includes revenue for the Pinterest app on Android. This matches the Pinterest and Direct pageviews we get from Google Analytics.
Overall revenue did not change, but as of October 21, 2023, creators will see accurate earnings and RPMs for Pinterest and Direct traffic sources.
