Why we’re verifying site owner identities and businesses

Keeping your account secure is a top priority. As technology evolves, so do the tactics used by bad actors. We’re taking proactive steps to ensure that every Raptive account belongs to a verified person or business so your site, earnings, and reputation stay protected.

We’ve partnered with Persona, a trusted provider of secure, user-friendly verification services. This process will help confirm who we’re working with, reduce the risk of fraud, and ensure we’re paying the right people or businesses.

As we onboard new sites, we’ll ask site owners to verify their identity and/or business details. Here’s what to expect if you are onboarding a site at Raptive:

  • Identity verification: To confirm your identity, you’ll be asked to upload a valid government-issued ID and a selfie.
  • Business verification: If you have a registered business, you’ll provide details to verify its legitimacy.
  • Domain verification: Persona will run a check to confirm that you own the website. No additional action is required on your part. 

This initiative helps:

  • Keep your Raptive account secure
  • Prevent fraud and payment redirection
  • Reduce account ownership disputes
  • Comply with industry and platform standards
  • Build new tools and features for verified creators

General Process

Why is Raptive asking for identity or business verification?
Online threats are evolving quickly, and we want to stay ahead of them by building our defenses now. Verifying site owner identities helps protect your account, meets partner and industry standards, and prevents issues like fraudulent payments or unauthorized account access.

Who needs to complete the verification?
It depends on your role:

  • If you’re a sole site owner or an authorized representative of a business, you can complete the verification yourself
  • If your site has co-owners, the person listed as the primary contact will be asked to verify
  • If you’re a contractor acting on behalf of a site owner or business, the site’s owner will need to complete the verification

Do I have to go through verification if I’ve worked with Raptive before?
Even if you’ve previously partnered with Raptive, it’s possible you may need to complete this new verification process to meet evolving compliance requirements.

I’m a current Raptive creator. Do I need to complete verification?
If you’re adding a new site under the same registered business as your existing Raptive sites, we’ll only need to verify your domain—and this will be handled on the backend with no action required from you. 

If your new site is under a different business, you’ll need to complete an identity and business verification.

How long does the verification process take?
Most verifications are completed within minutes. If a manual review is needed, it may take a few business days to resolve. The timing depends on what’s required to complete the review.

Do I have to verify both my personal and business identity?
In most cases, yes. If you operate under a registered business, we may require both business and personal verification to ensure compliance with tax and anti-fraud policies.

I already verified my identity on another platform. Do I still need to do this?
Yes. Platforms may run their own verification to meet specific compliance and risk requirements.

What happens if I don’t complete the verification?
Verification is required for onboarding and payment setup. Without completed verification, we won't be able to move forward with a partnership.

I run my site under a pen name. What should I do?
Use your legal name for verification. Persona requires official documentation to confirm your identity.

What is Persona, and is it secure?
Persona is a trusted identity verification provider used by major platforms to prevent fraud. They securely handle your verification data and comply with global privacy and security standards.

Is Persona available globally?
Yes. Persona supports global identity and business verification, but requirements may vary by country. 

Can my personal information be deleted from Persona?
If you’d like your personal data removed from Persona, we can request deletion on your behalf. However, deletion may lead to additional verifications in the future to ensure we remain compliant. Persona is fully GDPR and CCPA compliant.

Verification Requirements

What information will I need to provide?
Depending on your account type, you may be asked to present a valid ID and/or information related to your business registration, including your EIN, your business address, etc. Persona may also request certain documents depending on your country or the provided information.

Can someone else on my team complete the verification on my behalf?
Yes, if they have the legal authority to act on behalf of your business. However, to keep the onboarding process moving quickly, we recommend that the site owner complete the verification process. 

What is the difference between identity, business, and domain verification?

  • Identity Verification: Confirms the legal identity of a person using a government-issued ID.
  • Business Verification: Verifies the legitimacy of a registered business entity.
  • Domain Verification: Confirms that you or your business owns the website domain.

What if I don’t have a government-issued ID?
To complete verification, you must have a government-issued ID. If you do not have one, please let your Onboarding Specialist know. 

How does Persona verify my domain?
They check your domain for your first and last name or your business name. If it’s not detected, you may be prompted to upload additional documentation in order to prove ownership.

I made a mistake during verification. Can I start over?
Please contact your Onboarding Specialist to provide more information.

Payment & Tax Info

Will this affect my payments or monetization?
Not directly, but completing verification is required for onboarding and payment setup. Delays in verification could delay your ability to go live with Raptive.

Can I change my payment information after verification? Will I need to reverify?
Yes, you can update your payment information, but it may require re-verification to ensure compliance.
