How do I connect my Google Search Console account in the dashboard?

For some products and services, we may ask for API access to your Google Search Console account. If we are requesting this access, you’ll see a prompt in your dashboard.

Note: If you're looking to connect your Google Search Console account for Content Ideas, first you'll need to follow the instructions on the Content Optimization page to create your first content brief. Then you'll see the prompt at the top of the page.

This connection will allow us to combine your Search Console information with our internal data so we can provide you with useful insights. You won't see this data populate into your dashboard just yet — this will just give us behind-the-scenes access so we can offer content recommendations and monitor your Google rankings and traffic.

How to connect your Google Search Console account

Note: If you don’t see an option starting with “sc-domain:”, you might need to create a domain property for your site in your Google Search Console account.

Google introduced domain properties in February 2019, so if you created your Google Search Console account before then, you may need to go back into your account and set this up.

See this article for a walkthrough of that process: How do I create a domain property in Google Search Console?

That’s it! You should see a message at the bottom of the page letting you know you’ve successfully connected your Google Search Console account.
