Community Leaders: Recognizing Your Top Fans

The Community Leader program helps you recognize engaged members and build a more active, welcoming Community. Leaders help welcome new members, start conversations, answer questions, and model positive participation, so you’re not the only one helping conversations grow.

How Community Leader invitations work

There are two ways members may be invited to become Leaders:

1. Invite someone yourself

In your Community, open Creator Tools → Member Growth and copy your private Community Leaders invitation link. Share it with people you’d like to invite. Anyone who joins through that link becomes a Community Leader, so keep it for intended candidates.

2. Automatic Leader invitations

Raptive Community also automatically invites members who frequently engage positively with your Community. They’re automatically invited to become Community Leaders because of the positive participation they already bring.

We’ve found that these Leaders tend to be even more highly engaged over time than members invited directly by a Creator. You can still invite people yourself, too—both paths help you build a strong group of Leaders.

What Leaders receive

Leaders get a profile badge and access to Leader-only Community spaces, including a private Post Category and Group Chat. You also have access to these spaces and can find them in your sidebar under Categories and in your chat icon.

How to choose someone to invite

Think about members who regularly participate, ask thoughtful questions, or help others. A personal invitation can explain why you appreciate their contributions and how they could help your Community grow.

The program automatically identifies members who meet its activity criteria and invites them to accept the Community Leader role. After they accept, they receive a badge and access to Leader-only spaces.

If a Leader’s activity falls below the required level, they’ll receive a warning and have two weeks to become active again. If their activity remains below the threshold, their Leader status may be removed.

Beyond the Badge: Fun Ways to Recognize Your Leaders

You can make the experience of being a leader special by offering optional perks such as early access to content, exclusive posts, opportunities to provide feedback, giveaways, special events, swag, or coupon codes for your products or merchandise.

Even small gestures, like a monthly post just for Leaders, can help them feel recognized and valued as supporters helping shape the community from the beginning. Pop in once a month to share a behind-the-scenes photo or ask for their thoughts on a new project. Just select Community Leaders from the category dropdown in your post composer or pop into the Community Leaders Chat to start sharing.

An active group of Leaders helps the community feel welcoming, alive, and easy to join from the very beginning, and makes it more sustainable in the long run.
