Comscore Social Authorization Instructions

Advertisers are increasingly focusing on working directly with us and using data from platforms like Comscore to guide their ad spending on high-quality sites at scale. Raptive is the only creator media company in the Comscore top 10!

Recently, Comscore changed its rankings to incorporate social media stats in addition to website traffic. We need your help authenticating your social accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) so that we can include your social media traffic—and make sure brands continue to see Raptive as a top way to reach the widest possible audience.

Authenticating your social traffic with Comscore puts us in a better position to secure higher-RPM deals at larger dollar amounts for you!

What does “authenticating with Comscore” mean?

When you follow the steps below, you’re granting read-only access to page-level insights so Comscore can validate your social traffic and include it in its ranking. Comscore cannot make changes to a client account, access account settings, or create/remove content.

Authentication will allow Comscore the same page-level insights available in the Meta Business Manager, such as page-level reach and impressions.

To ensure accurate traffic reporting via Comscore, it is necessary to keep 'Manage Your Business' selected for Facebook and Instagram. Think of this permission as similar to providing a window for Comscore to observe and collect your data solely for reporting purposes. Just as someone looking through a window can't rearrange your furniture, Comscore can't modify your account or content in any way.

Although some apps can manage accounts, Comscore specifically designed their connection to be read-only, meaning they cannot post, delete, or edit your Facebook or Instagram pages in any way. Their connection serves purely to view and report on data, without affecting your content or account settings.

Before you begin:

  • We highly recommend using an Incognito/Private browser window to prevent auto-signing into personal accounts.
  • Make sure to use your business/professional account logins for these social platforms.
  • Ensure that login credentials have admin-level account privileges. Admin access is required for the account login.

Please provide screenshots of the completed authentication for each platform to Raptive or your Creator Partnerships Manager for confirmation.

Note: Even though Facebook and Instagram are both part of Meta, you will have to do them separately - once for Facebook and once for Instagram. The steps will look very similar.

Meta: Instagram

Important: Make sure your Instagram account is linked to the Facebook account. This may require updating your Instagram settings prior to authentication to connect Meta Accounts.

Note: Two-Factor Authentication is required by Facebook to initiate setup. Please ensure that Two-Factor Authentication is Enabled on the Facebook accounts.

  1. Go to https://core.comscore.com/social-auth/ig/.
    1. Note: This will look VERY similar to the Facebook login page, but it is slightly different, and needs to be completed separately.
  2. Please sign into Facebook/Instagram with the login used to access your Business accounts across Meta then select the Facebook Business Accounts, Pages, and Instagram accounts associated with your Raptive site.
  3. Grant all permissions for Facebook and Instagram accounts associated with your business account to ensure traffic is tracked accurately. Permissions are read-only and allow Comscore to view, but not manage, your account.
    • Please make sure ALL permissions are selected, including:
      • Receive your email address
      • Manage your business
      • Access profile and posts from the Instagram account connected to your Page
      • Access insights for the Instagram account connected to your Page
      • Read content posted on the Page
      • Show a list of the Pages you manage
  4. Please provide screenshots of the completed authentication to Raptive or your Creator Partnerships Manager for confirmation.

Meta: Facebook

Note: Two-Factor Authentication is required by Facebook to initiate setup. Please ensure that Two-Factor Authentication is Enabled on the Facebook accounts.

  1. Go to https://core.comscore.com/social-auth/fb/
    • Note: This will look VERY similar to the Instagram login page, but it is slightly different, and needs to be completed separately.
  2. Follow the prompts to “Continue with Facebook, and sign in using your admin credentials.
    • Additional note: Facebook requires every business page to be linked to a personal Facebook profile, so when logging in, you will likely log in to a personal account that then connects to your business accounts.
  3. This should take you to the Facebook Business Page. Grant all permissions to ensure traffic is tracked accurately. Permissions are read-only and allow Comscore to view, but not manage, your account.
    • Additional note: Sometimes, with Facebook, the process skips straight to the end and you will land on the Sharablee/Comscore page. If that is the case, please send us the screenshots, and we will check that the authentication was successful. There’s no need to create or log into a Comscore account.
  4. Please repeat for any additional accounts you have with Raptive.
  5. Please provide screenshots of the completed authentication to Raptive or your Creator Partnerships Manager for confirmation.

X/Twitter

Note: You must have a Professional account to authenticate.

  1. Go to https://core.comscore.com/social-auth/tw/ and sign into the X/Twitter account.
  2. You will be prompted to “Authorize Shareablee to access your account.” Please click “Authorize app.”

Comscore Authentication FAQs

How can I confirm my socials are successfully authenticated?

  • Send your screenshots to our team and we will verify the connection was successful once we receive the next Comscore report.

  • If the process wasn’t successful, we’ll send you troubleshooting instructions.

My socials are wrong—how do I update them?

  1. Provide the correct social URLs to Raptive or your Creator Partnership Manager.
  2. We’ll update them in the Comscore system.

  3. Updates typically take 1 week to reflect. Once confirmed, we will let you know when you can start the authentication process.

    • Note: Do not go through the process until we confirm the connection is established or you will need to remove the existing integration first.

Do I need a Comscore account or to log into Comscore?

  • No, there’s no need to create or log into a Comscore account. If you encounter a Comscore login page after authenticating, simply disregard it—you’re all set!

Why does Facebook/Instagram log me into my personal account?

  • Meta requires all business pages to be linked to a personal profile. When logging in, you’ll first access your personal account, which then connects to your business accounts.

What kind of access does Comscore get?

  • Comscore’s connection is read-only. They can view and report on data but cannot post, delete, or edit anything on your social media accounts. If you’re not comfortable with this, it’s okay! While this authentication helps us better represent our creators to advertisers, this process is optional, and your comfort is our top priority.

Why does Instagram’s login look like Facebook?

  • Instagram authentication looks similar to Facebook because it’s part of the Meta platform. However, the steps for completing each process are separate and both need to be completed.

How do I know if my accounts are business accounts?

  • Facebook:

    • Look for tabs like About, Services, and Reviews under your profile picture.

  • Learn more about professional mode here: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/2680340558863560
  • Instagram:

    • Open the app → Menu → Settings → “Account type and tools.”

    • If your account type is already professional, you will see here either “Creator tools and controls” or “Business tools and controls”.

  • Twitter:
    • Ensure your Twitter account is set to a Professional account.
      • If you have a personal account you can easily change it to a professional account by following these steps:
        • Go to your profile and select “Edit Profile.”
        • Select “Switch to professional”
        • Select “Switch Account Type”
        • Select the type of account you’d like from the menu of options
