You can add closed captioning to your videos right in your dashboard! Hover over a video and click “Details”, then scroll to the “Closed Captions” section:
You can upload VTT (Web Video Text Track) and SRT (SubRip Subtitle) files. There are a number of transcription services you can use to create these files in the supported formats.
Files may take up to 30 seconds to finish processing, and you can continue to navigate your dashboard while waiting for them to finish.
Once the file is finished processing, assign the correct language via the dropdown menu. English is the default for new uploads.
If you have closed caption files in other languages, you can upload them as well and select the corresponding language from the dropdown menu:
- English (default)
- Spanish
- French
- Chinese
- German
- Arabic
- Hindi
- Portuguese
Once your file has uploaded and you’ve selected the language, you are all set!
If you’re editing a video that you’ve previously embedded on your site, you don’t need to update your embed code — the closed caption file will now be available in the video player for that video.
You can also add the same caption file for several videos at once (e.g. an “upbeat music” caption). Select multiple videos to see the bulk edit options, then click on Closed Captions to bring up a pop-up window where you can upload your caption file.
