Creating regular posts is essential for creating an active community, full of conversations and sharing. Use these simple steps to start conversations and share updates within your Community.
How to Create a Post
- Open the composer by tapping the + button (mobile) or selecting New Post (desktop) at the top of your screen.
- Enter a clear, descriptive title to grab members' attention. If your post is a prompt for discussion, include it in the title.
- Write your message, using formatting tools and adding images, links, or embedded content.
- Click Post to publish your content to the Community.
- Optional: You can also choose to publish your post in a specific discussion category in your community. By default, all new posts will go into the main feed.
Make your post easy to participate in
The best posts give members a clear reason to respond. Try starting with one idea, a quick update, a behind-the-scenes moment, or a question your audience will enjoy answering.
Here are a few simple ways to encourage conversation:
- Ask a specific question, such as “What are you making this weekend?” rather than a broad question like “What do you think?”
- Share a photo, video, or link that gives members something to react to.
- End with an invitation to reply, share a tip, or tell their own story.
- Choose the discussion category that best matches the topic so members can find the conversation later.
Posting tools
The post composer allows you to share a variety of media, from images and video to polls and embedded content. Use these posting tools to create deeply engaging content that encourages members to reply and participate.
Photos & Images
To add images from your local device, select the media upload icon in the bottom left corner. You can upload multiple files at once, allowing your audience to browse through a visual gallery.
For the best display, prioritize sharp, professional-quality graphics and place your primary subject in the center. Since feed previews often use automatic cropping to conserve space, focusing on centered elements and straightforward framing ensures your imagery looks its best.
Videos
Community Leaders and creators can share video content by selecting the media upload icon within the post composer. If you’re shooting on your iPhone, make sure your camera format is set to H.264, or ‘Most Compatible’.
Embedded content
You can embed content from YouTube, Spotify, X/Twitter, and TikTok directly in your post. Paste the content URL into the composer, then press Enter or Return. The content will appear in your post for members to view or play without leaving the Community.
Polls
To invite member feedback through voting, select the Poll icon located in the composer toolbar, right beside the emoji picker. Draft your question and provide various options for responses. You can toggle between allowing a single selection or enabling multiple choices before you Insert Poll and share it with your Community.
Links
Members can view shared links in several formats depending on how you choose to present them within the community:
- Hyperlinked Text: Highlight your chosen phrase and select the link icon, or press Command + K (Mac) or Control + K (Windows) to add your URL.
- Automatic Links: Drop a URL into the composer and hit Enter or Return. The platform can instantly convert it into a formatted, titled link for better visibility.
- Visual Previews: By placing a URL on its own line, you generate a rich preview card. This provides your audience with a snapshot of the recipe, article, or resource before they navigate away.
Text Formatting
Enhance the readability and flow of your content by utilizing the formatting toolbar. Apply bold for emphasis, organize ideas into bulleted or numbered lists, and use styling tools to ensure your more extensive updates remain easy for members to scan and digest.
