Email is one of the most valuable channels for introducing your Community to people who already have a relationship with your content.
Your subscribers have chosen to hear from you directly. They may regularly read your newsletters, try your recommendations, or follow along with your latest projects.
That existing connection makes email a natural place to invite them into a more interactive experience.
| PRO TIP: Use the "Share" button (paper airplane icon) on any post to generate a graphic you can use across your channels. We offer vertical (9:16) for social stories and vertical video, square (1:1) for feed posts and email newsletters, and horizontal (1.90x1) for banners and newsletters. |
1. DEDICATED EMAILS: GIVE YOUR COMMUNITY A PROPER INTRODUCTION
A dedicated email is especially useful when launching your Community or introducing it to subscribers who haven't heard about it before.
Rather than focusing on the platform itself, explain why you created the Community and what your subscribers can look forward to.
| A SIMPLE EMAIL FORMULA | |
| OPEN WITH THE WHY | Connect the Community to something your subscribers already value. |
| EXPLAIN WHAT'S DIFFERENT | Show how the Community creates opportunities that email alone doesn't. |
| MAKE IT TANGIBLE | Give examples of conversations, resources, or experiences waiting inside. |
| INVITE PARTICIPATION | End with one clear action. |
EXAMPLE EMAIL
Subject: I made something for us 💛
"One of my favorite parts of sharing recipes with you is hearing your stories.
I love finding out how you make recipes your own, what your families think, and which kitchen tricks you've discovered along the way.
But there's one thing I've always wished we had: a place where we could all share those ideas with each other.
So I created one!
Our new Community is a place to swap recipes, ask questions, share recommendations, and connect with other people who love cooking as much as we do.
We're kicking things off with a conversation about everyone's favorite weeknight dinners, and I'd LOVE for you to share yours.
[JOIN THE CONVERSATION]
I can't wait to see what we create together."
| PRO TIP: Consider sending a follow-up email featuring a real Community conversation or member experience rather than repeating the original launch announcement. This helps subscribers see the Community's value in action. |
2. EMAIL BANNERS & FEATURES: KEEP YOUR COMMUNITY VISIBLE
Not every Community promotion needs an entire email.
Adding a small feature to your regular newsletter is an easy way to keep your Community visible without taking attention away from the content subscribers originally signed up to receive.
Try these placements:
| PLACEMENT | DESCRIPTION | EXAMPLE |
| NEWSLETTER BANNER | A short branded section that appears in your recurring emails. | "Have you joined our Community yet? Come swap recipes, ask questions, and connect with other home cooks. [JOIN OUR COMMUNITY]" |
| COMMUNITY CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHT | Feature one timely discussion in your newsletter. | "💬 This Week in the Community We're sharing our favorite ways to use up leftover vegetables, and I've already found three ideas I'm making this week. What's your go-to? [ADD YOUR IDEA]" |
| MEMBER SPOTLIGHT | Share a useful recommendation, interesting experience, or thoughtful contribution from a Community member. | "One of our members shared the BEST trick for keeping fresh herbs alive longer. Now everyone's sharing their own tips. [SEE THE CONVERSATION]" |
| RESOURCE FEATURE | Highlight something useful you've recently shared inside the Community. | "I just put together a list of my favorite beginner-friendly gardening supplies. You can find the full list in the Community. [SEE MY RECOMMENDATIONS]" |
3. CONNECT EMAIL CONTENT TO COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
One of the simplest ways to promote your Community is to make it a natural next step from whatever your email is already about.
If you're sharing a recipe, invite subscribers to share their ingredient swaps in the community.
If you're sending a tutorial, invite them to ask follow-up questions.
If you're recommending products, invite them to share what they've tried.
EXAMPLE
"Have you made this recipe before?
I'd love to hear what you thought, especially if you've tried any ingredient substitutions.
We're comparing notes in the Community this week.
[SHARE YOUR VERSION]"
| PRO TIP: Keep the Community invitation relevant to the email's subject. A highly specific CTA often gives subscribers a stronger reason to click than an unrelated invitation placed at the bottom of every newsletter. |
