Raptive offers several privacy notice and consent options to help you balance potential legal risk, ad revenue, and the visitor experience.
Our standard footer opt-out link is the least disruptive approach, but you can also choose to provide more prominent disclosures or request visitor consent before loading certain advertising technologies.
Because the laws behind many privacy-related claims predate modern website technology, there is no universally accepted approach or guarantee that any particular option will prevent legal claims.
- Disclosure notice (low revenue impact): A small pop-up that the user must accept/dismiss before accessing the site. Does not stop the loading of ads or pixels but does notify the user.
- Full consent pop-up (higher revenue impact): A larger pop-up that gives visitors the choice to accept or decline. You can configure this option to initially load only non-personalized ads, although these ads may still use cookies or involve data transfers.
-
Acceptance-gated pop-up (significant revenue impact): Prevents Raptive's ad code and ad auctions from loading until a visitor accepts. This is the most restrictive option for Raptive advertising and can significantly reduce revenue.
Important: More restrictive settings don't necessarily provide greater legal protection. Each option has different implications for your revenue and visitor experience.
Don't forget your other website technologies
Raptive's privacy controls don't automatically manage everything running on your website. Analytics tools, marketing pixels, plugins, embedded content, and other third-party technologies may need to be configured separately to respect visitor consent choices.
Learn how to connect other website technologies to Raptive's consent systems.
We recommend working with your legal counsel to choose the right approach, keeping your privacy disclosures accurate, and testing how your website behaves before and after visitors make their choices.
What if you receive a legal demand letter?
If you receive a privacy-related demand letter, share the full letter with Raptive and your legal counsel so the specific allegations and technologies involved can be reviewed.
No single privacy setting guarantees protection from legal claims. Your attorney can help you evaluate your options and determine the most appropriate approach for your website.
